Course Details
- 8-week course
- Weekly 160 minute sessions in person
- Each meeting consists of:
- Check-in
- Students partner up and review content assignments
- Culture Talk
- At the beginning of the semester, students will sign up to present their “Culture Talk” on a chosen date
- Comparative analysis of student’s culture and Filipino culture
- Aspects of culture and cultural representations
- Material culture, textile, weaving, pottery, petroglyphs, wood carvings, architecture, music, oral histories, dancing, chants, food, linguistics, verbal expressions/language, spirituality, canoe culture
- If student is of Filipino descent, they will explore their ethnolinguistic group and compare it to another ethnolinguistic group in the Philippines
- Aspects of culture and cultural representations
- Comparative analysis of student’s culture and Filipino culture
